U.S.: Del Monte recalls vegetable trays amid Cyclospora outbreak

Del Monte Fresh Produce has announced a voluntary recall of its vegetable trays across six states over fears they may be linked to an outbreak of intestinal illness Cyclospora.

The recall affects a limited quantity of 6 oz., 12 oz. and 28 oz. vegetable trays containing fresh broccoli, cauliflower, celery sticks, carrots, and dill dip sold to select retailers in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Del Monte says it was notified by state agencies of the outbreak and its potential involvement.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the infection usually is not life-threatening, with symptoms including watery diarrhea, loss of appetite, weight loss and cramping.

The recalled products were distributed to Kwik Trip, Kwik Star, Demond’s, Sentry, Potash, Meehan’s, Country Market, Food Max Supermarket and Peapod and have “Best If Enjoyed By” date of June 17, 2018 or earlier.
