Market situation in the Northern Hemisphere, week 44 — 2011 (Nov. 4)

Avocadoes

In North America, supply has corresponded mostly to small sizes while sizes 32-40 have reached higher prices.

Europe has shown stable activity and the first Spanish Hass have traded this week.

Blueberries

In North America, Southern Hemisphere supply has registered strong adjustments with inventories under pressure especially for sizes of 4.40z format. Sales activity was similar to current volumes in Europe.

Off-shore fruit has experienced adjustments, due to higher availability.


Cherries

In North America and Europe, the first early Chilean cherry varieties have started trading.

Grapes

In North America, Californian white seedless grape supply has progressively decreased making way for Brazilian grapes which are focussed mainly on the east coast.

In Europe, several supermarkets have already transferred to Southern Hemisphere fruit, while more significant volumes from this region are expected in the next few weeks.

Stonefruit

In Europe and the U.K. the first sales and supplies of South African peaches have been reported.
