Harvest situation in the Southern Hemisphere, week 13, 2012
Fuji apple harvests have started in Brazil while Chile is expecting a similar crop to 2011. South Africa was expected to begin harvests of red and braeburn apples during the following week, while Argentina was sending more fruit to cold storage.
Around 75% of Chile's Red Globe and Crimson Seedless crop had been harvested, with collection continuing as normal. The last volumes were sent in the previous week in a bid to arrive before the start of the marketing order in the U.S.
Chile started harvests across the northern zone with fruit showing good quality. Shipments from Peru increased by 37% compared to week 11.
